INSPYR Solutions is seeking a Senior AVEVA PI Engineer for a hybrid role in The Woodlands, TX. The candidate will own PI database administration, maintenance, and optimization of the PI System environment, with hands-on focus on backend tasks rather than application development.

Requirements include 5+ years of AVEVA PI/OSIsoft PI experience, strong PI architecture knowledge, and experience in production environments where data reliability is critical.

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Senior AVEVA PI Engineer to support, maintain, and optimize its existing PI System environment. This individual will take ownership of PI database administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and overall system health. The ideal candidate has approximately five years of hands-on experience supporting AVEVA PI (formerly OSIsoft PI), with a strong emphasis on backend system administration rather than application development or end-user support.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and support the AVEVA PI System environment.
• Perform ongoing PI database maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Monitor system health, data availability, reliability, and performance.
• Identify and resolve database issues to improve overall system stability.
• Maintain PI data infrastructure and ensure accurate, reliable access to operational data.
• Evaluate existing database maintenance practices and recommend improvements.
• Troubleshoot data collection, connectivity, and system performance issues.
• The primary focus is hands-on PI database administration, maintenance, and implementing optimizations to improve the overall environment.
• Establish and maintain documentation, maintenance procedures, and operational best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Approximately 5+ years of hands-on AVEVA PI / OSIsoft PI experience, with a focus on database maintenance and administration.
• Strong understanding of PI System architecture and backend administration.
• Experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimizing PI database environments.
• Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose and resolve PI system issues.
• Experience supporting production environments where data reliability and system availability are critical.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to take ownership of system maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with PI Data Archive, PI Asset Framework (AF), and PI interfaces or connectors.
• Familiarity with industrial operations, manufacturing, energy, or oil and gas environments.
• Experience improving existing PI environments through proactive maintenance and optimization.
• Knowledge of PI data flows, integrations, and performance monitoring.
