Ian Martin Group is recruiting a Senior PI Analyst to manage real-time data flows for a global upstream operation. You will install, configure, and upgrade PI System components across multiple sites, and lead the migration from OPC DA to OPC UA.

The role requires 10+ years of AVEVA PI System experience, deep knowledge of PI Data Archive, AF, Vision, and analytics, plus strong collaboration with teams in the US, Canada, and beyond. Onsite in Spring, TX.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on AVEVA (OSIsoft) PI System experience in oil and gas or similar industrial setting.
• Deep knowledge of PI Data Archive, AF, PI Buffer Subsystem, PI Vision, PI Analytics, and Event Frames.
• Proven experience installing, configuring, and upgrading PI System components.
• Experience with OPC UA and other industrial protocols (Modbus).
• Experience with PI adapters, interfaces, connectors, and PI Web API.
• Working knowledge of PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, or related field.

Senior PI Analyst

• Pay Rate: $70 - $90/hour (on W2)
• Contract Length: 12 months
• Location: Spring, TX 77389 (Onsite)

Raise is currently hiring a contract team member on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.

Overview

You keep real-time data flowing across a global upstream oil and gas operation. The PI System environment spans 15 sites, 400 servers, and millions of data points (tags) per site. Engineers, operators, and maintenance teams rely on this data to keep assets safe and running well.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and upgrade PI System parts, including PI Data Archive, Asset Framework (AF) servers, and PI Buffer Subsystem, across many sites.
• Lead hands-on moves from OPC Data Access (OPC DA) to OPC Unified Architecture (OPC UA) as part of a global standardization effort.
• Resolve complex, escalated tickets that need direct contact with U.S. and Canada sites, mainly when the rest of the team is offline.
• Set up and support PI adapters for data collection, including OPC UA, Modbus, and relational database (RDBMS) adapters.
• Build PI tags, AF models, asset hierarchies, event frames, analytics, and PI Vision dashboards.
• Connect the PI System to control and business systems. These include programmable logic controllers (PLC), distributed control systems (DCS), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), manufacturing execution systems (MES), enterprise resource planning (ERP), reporting tools, and cloud platforms.
• Support new builds (greenfield) and upgrades to existing sites (brownfield), shaping your work to each site's needs.
• Test new AVEVA products through proofs of concept and pre-launch testing.
• Guide teammates in Bangalore, Mexico, and Brazil, and share best practices across the global team.
• Keep technical documentation, data standards, and support procedures up to date.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on AVEVA (OSIsoft) PI System experience in oil and gas, manufacturing, utilities, or a similar industrial setting.
• Deep knowledge of PI Data Archive, Asset Framework, PI Buffer Subsystem, PI Vision, PI Analytics, and Event Frames.
• Proven work installing, configuring, and upgrading PI System parts.
• Experience with OPC UA and other industrial protocols, such as Modbus.
• Experience with PI adapters, interfaces, connectors, and PI Web API.
• Working knowledge of instrumentation and control systems, including PLC, DCS, and SCADA.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Upstream oil and gas experience.
• Experience in a large, multi-site PI environment, including Windows Server and network support.
• Automation experience with Ansible.
• Experience moving systems from OPC DA to OPC UA.
• Experience with PI System Explorer, PI Builder, PI Integrator, and MQTT (a lightweight messaging protocol).
• Scripting experience with Python, PowerShell, or .NET.
• Knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL), Power BI, and Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with Azure, AWS, and continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) practices.
• Knowledge of Active Directory and industrial cybersecurity.
• AVEVA PI System certification.
