Job summary

Lucid Motors is seeking a Sr Automation Engineer, Test and Validation to join the LV Test & Validation team in Newark, CA. You will design automated test scripts and own a unified testing system for environmental and electrical tests, including ECU testing with an in-house simulator.

Requirements include a BS in an engineering/computing field, 5+ years in HW testing and test automation, and strong C/C++, Python, and LabVIEW skills.

Qualifications

  • Experience automating DV/DVT tests.
  • Strong HW/SW testing background incl. environmental, electrical, functional validation.
  • Ability to design and optimize test procedures to reduce errors and improve repeatability.
  • Ability to review schematics and write embedded test software.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement automated test scripts for DVT and compliance testing.
  • Build a unified automated test system for load simulators, thermal chambers, power supplies, DAQ units and test equipment.
  • Develop embedded test software for a homegrown test simulator to streamline ECU testing.
  • Assist test engineers in devising test plans, setups, procurement, debugging and data analysis.

We are currently seeking a Sr Automation Engineer, Test and Validation to join the LV Test & Validation organization to help drive the successful, on-time execution of DVP activities. Our ideal candidate brings a proactive, hands‑on mindset, and consistently demonstrates technical rigor, ownership, and a commitment to high‑quality results. The Role:
  • Designing/implementing automated test scripts for executing DVT and Compliance test cases and generating summary reports
  • Design and take ownership of a unified automated test system for controlling load simulators, thermal chambers, power supplies, DAQ units, and other equipment used in environmental and electrical testing.
  • Develop embedded test software for in-house designed test simulator to streamline and improve ECU testing.
  • Supporting and assisting test engineers to develop test plans, define setups, procure equipment, debug issues, and analyze complex test data.
Qualifications:
  • Extensive experience developing and deploying fully automated test scripts for executing DV/DVT test cases.
  • Strong background in both HW and SW testing, including environmental, electrical, and functional validation.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, analyze, and optimize test procedures to minimize measurement error and improve repeatability.
  • Ability to review schematics and develop embedded software to control defined functions.
  • Knowledge of industrial control systems and communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, CAN, SPI, I2C, LIN, RS‑232, and high‑speed interfaces such as Gigabit Ethernet and FPD‑Link.
  • Experience in developing embedded software with various chipsets such as NXP.
  • Proficiency with measurement automation tools and scripting languages such as, C/C++, Python, andLabview.
  • Familiarity with EMC/EMI test environment is a PLUS
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science (MS preferred)
  • At least 5 years of experiencein HW testing and test automation (Automotive is a plus)

Salary Range

The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

Base Pay Range (Annual)

$144,000 — $198,000 USD

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Lucid offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance; life and disability coverage; paid time off; paid holidays, paid sick leave; and a401(k) retirementplan.
  • Hourly/non-exempt employees accrue up to 120 hours paid time off, and salaried/exempt employee accrue up to 160 hours paid time off.
  • Eligible employees may also participatein Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual cash incentive program.
  • Incentive and equity awards, if applicable, aredeterminedbased on individual performance, role scope, market considerations, and overall company results,in accordance withthe terms of the applicable plans.
