Job summary

ZETA USA Inc. in King of Prussia, PA, is seeking a Sr. Automation Engineer to lead automation projects for biotech and pharmaceutical clients, overseeing design through commissioning in GMP environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
  • 7–12 years of automation/controls engineering experience in biotech/pharma/medical device manufacturing
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation (PLC, SCADA, FactoryTalk)
  • Experience with DeltaV or ability to learn quickly
  • Deep understanding of S88 batch concepts and process automation fundamentals
  • Mandatory GMP experience including qualification protocols
  • Experience with databases (SQL Server), industrial networks/OT, and plant-floor interfaces
  • Familiarity with bioreactors, filtration skids, CIP/SIP systems, and hygienic utilities
  • Ability to work independently, manage client expectations, and lead technical decision-making
  • Willingness to travel and be on-site in King of Prussia at least 3 days per week

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, implementation, commissioning, and startup of automation and control systems for biotech/pharma processes
  • Integrate new equipment into existing manufacturing systems and lead greenfield automation builds
  • Develop, review, and troubleshoot automation code, functional specs, and system architecture
  • Write and execute GMP-compliant commissioning, qualification, and validation documentation
  • Serve as a technical leader on client projects, guiding internal teams and mentoring junior engineers
  • Work directly on customer sites to diagnose issues, optimize performance, and support production
  • Collaborate with process, equipment, and CQV teams to ensure seamless project delivery
  • Contribute to building internal standards, best practices, and scalable processes

Sr. Automation Engineer

Your tasks

This is a senior‑level role for someone who thrives in a hands‑on, fast‑moving environment and enjoys implementing solutions on real equipment. You’ll lead automation projects for major biotech and pharmaceutical clients, working across brownfield integrations (about 70% of our work) and greenfield builds. You’ll own everything from design through commissioning, and you’ll be the person our clients trust when they need a system to work reliably in a GMP environment.

What You’ll Do

Your profile
