Job summary

Alcon is seeking a Digital Field Service Engineer to install, configure, and troubleshoot connected ophthalmic devices and digital applications. You will collaborate with customer IT teams to ensure secure connectivity and remote support, driving digital adoption and uptime.

The role involves partnering with FSEs, sales, and service leadership to deliver proactive service and seamless technology deployments across designated territories.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Fluent reading, writing and speaking English.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Install and configure connected ophthalmic equipment and digital applications.
• Support network integration, cloud connectivity, and remote monitoring capabilities.
• Coordinate with customer IT for connectivity and cybersecurity compliance.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
• Train customers and field teams on digital workflows and connected technologies.
• Support product launches, upgrades, software updates, and digital transformation initiatives.
• Collaborate with FSEs, sales teams, and service leadership to improve equipment uptime and customer satisfaction.
• Drive adoption of Alcon digital solutions and connectivity programs.

Digital Field Service Engineer

The Digital Field Service Engineer serves as the technical expert for Alcon's connected equipment and digital service solutions. This role is responsible for installing, configuring, integrating, and troubleshooting network-connected ophthalmic devices while partnering with customers to ensure secure connectivity, remote support capability, and optimal system performance.

The DFSE collaborates with Field Service Engineers, commercial teams, and customer IT organizations to drive digital adoption, support new technology launches, and enhance the customer experience through proactive service and connectivity solutions.

We believe patients should have access to quality eye care regardless of their economic circumstances; however, barriers to good eye health exist for patients in both developed and emerging markets. Alcon develops and manufactures innovative devices to serve the full life cycle of eye care needs.

Typical Day (Responsibilities)

In this role, a typical day will include:

• Install and configure connected ophthalmic equipment and digital applications.

Location and Territory

Territory – GA, AL, TN – (other locations as business needs) Ideal candidate location: Knoxville/Chattanooga/Nashville, TN – Birmingham, AL – Atlanta, GA

Key Requirements / Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent years of directly related experience
• The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
• 2 years of Relevant Experience
