Job summary

HarbourVest Partners is seeking a Senior Associate to support Enterprise Operations & Strategy. The role reports to the VP and focuses on expanding and improving product operations, onboarding, and performance reporting across the firm’s vehicles.

The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in private markets operations, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with teams on complex launches while maintaining rigorous controls and client focus.

Qualifications

  • Solid understanding in at least one operational function: accounting, investor reporting, performance analytics, transfer agency, treasury, corporate finance, tax/regulatory compliance or investment operations.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to push for client operational decisions while incorporating diverse perspectives.
  • Experience with structures - private equity, hedge funds, or alternative investment vehicles and related fee models.
  • Ability to clearly communicate sophisticated concepts in writing and in person.
  • Experience leading or facilitating team efforts.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple product launches simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior professionals to assess operational build capacity impacting accounting, treasury, taxation, onboarding, reporting and third-party service providers.
  • Document and maintain key decisions and actions for product launches and EOS dashboard updates.
  • Assist in client operational launches from concept to run-phase transition.
  • Assess key operational processes and technology for new product implementation and dependencies.
  • Support review of legal and product documentation from an operational perspective.
  • Solicit feedback from across the organization to advise product terms and operating models.
  • Coordinate with run team leads to ensure readiness to support product needs.
  • Other duties as required.

This position will be a hybrid work arrangement. You will receive 18 remote workdays per quarter to use at your discretion, subject to manager approval. For example, you may choose to work in the office 4 days per week and take one remote day weekly (typically 13 weeks per quarter), leaving 5 additional remote days to be used as needed.


We are searching for a Senior Associate, Enterprise Operations & Strategy who will report to the Vice President of Enterprise Operations & Strategy. They will assist with the operational expansion of new and existing products that are innovative or require operational improvements aligned with the firm's strategy.


The ideal candidate is someone who has:



  • A solid understanding in at least one area related to operational functions: Accounting, Client Experience/Investor Reporting, Performance/Analytics, Transfer Agency, Treasury, Corporate Finance, Compliance – Regulatory and tax, Investment Operations.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to push for client operational decisions on a project while seeking input from different perspectives, without existing precedents.

  • Experience with one or more of the following structures - Alternative Investment Vehicles (40 Acts, 34 Acts, Collateralized Fund Obligations (CFO), SICAVs, ELTIF 2.0s, LTAFs, RAIFs, CITs, QAHCs, Cayman Unit Trusts) separately managed mandates, complex open and closed end funds, private equity, credit investments, real assets and various performance fees structures.

  • Ability to clearly communicate sophisticated technical concepts in simple terms by building a template/model, summarizing in writing and in person.

  • Experience working in team environments, with the ability to lead or facilitate group efforts.

  • Effectively manage and prioritize multiple product launches simultaneously.


What you will do:


  • Collaborate with an experienced group of senior professionals to assess operational build capacity that may impact the operational model involving accounting, treasury functions, taxation, client onboarding, reporting, performance, and third-party service providers.

  • Document and maintain key decisions, processes, and achievements for each product launch in a formalized Action Plan, while supporting and owning updates to the EOS dashboard.

  • Assist in all aspects of the client operational launch of a new product from the point of concept to full transition to the “run” team.

  • Assist in the initial assessment of key new operational processes and technology required for new product implementation. Leverage efficiencies and opportunities from past launches. Assist with establishing key dependencies and goals to meet client operational readiness launch targets.

  • Carefully support the review process of legal and other product documentation from an operational commercial perspective.

  • Soliciting feedback and input from a large cross-section of the organization and evaluating different inputs to advise decisions around product terms and related sales and operating models. Coordinating with operational run team leads to ensure that the firm will be prepared to support the operational needs of the products.

  • Other responsibilities as required.


What you bring:


  • An understanding of fund structuring, involvement in product launch and related topics.

  • Proven excellence in implementing multi-dimensional projects.

  • Familiarity with Regulated structures in Stateside and foreign Markets, US GAAP, LUX GAAP and other basis of accounting.

  • Familiarity with different legal structures used for investors to access private market strategies.


Education Preferred:


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.


Experience:


  • 5-8 Years experience in private equity or asset management preferred.

  • Prior experience with (US and non-US) alternative investment vehicles preferred.


Base Salary Range

$105,000.00 - $115,000.00


This USD base salary range represents only one component of total compensation for this role and is provided in accordance with local requirements. This role is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, which is determined based on individual and overall firm performance. In addition to salary and bonus, total compensation may include eligibility for long-term reward programs and a comprehensive total rewards package that may include retirement, health, insurance, paid time off, and wellness programs. Our total rewards offerings are influenced by several business factors, and eligibility for certain components will vary by position and geography. Please note the posted ranges do not apply outside the U.S. and should not be converted to other currencies as a proxy for compensation in other countries.
