Job summary

HarbourVest Partners in Boston seeks a Vice President to join the Primary Investments team. You will source and evaluate Private Equity, Growth Equity and Venture Capital fund investments, manage portfolios, and represent HarbourVest with General Partners and Limited Partners.

The ideal candidate brings 5–10+ years in private equity, deep due diligence, and strong analytical and communication skills to thrive in a collaborative, results-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with manager due diligence across Private Equity, Growth Equity and Venture Capital.
• Adept at sourcing, building and maintaining relationships with General Partners.
• Exceptionally analytical with deep experience in Excel.
• Proven in managing and monitoring investment portfolios.
• Skilled in both written and verbal communication, including presenting to senior leaders.
• Highly collaborative with an ability to work seamlessly across teams.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive the investment process (e.g. manager due diligence, underwriting, oversight and preparation of investment memos/presentation, referencing, active IC discussion, legal negotiation and closing processes)
• Source new investment opportunities, develop and deepen relationships with new and existing General Partners, and identify opportunities for cross-platform partnership
• Monitor partnership investments, including through active participation in LPAC meetings, Annual Meetings and regular update meetings with General Partners
• Mentor and support junior team members
• Assist team with client service, including material preparation and meeting participation

This position will be a hybrid work arrangement. You will receive 18 remote workdays per quarter to use at your discretion, subject to manager approval. For example, you may choose to work in the office 4 days per week and take one remote day weekly (typically 13 weeks per quarter), leaving 5 additional remote days to be used as needed.

This position requires a minimum of four days per week in the Boston office, excluding time spent traveling for business. Occasional travel is expected.

• Master of Business Administration (MBA) or comparable experience

Experience:

• 5-10+ years of experience in private equity, investments, or an investment advisory position preferred

Base Salary Range

$200,000.00 - $210,000.00

This USD base salary range represents only one component of total compensation for this role and is provided in accordance with local requirements. This role is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, which is determined based on individual and overall firm performance. In addition to salary and bonus eligibility, total compensation may include participation in long-term reward programs (typically for more senior-level roles). We also offer a comprehensive total rewards package that may include retirement contributions, health insurance, income protection, paid time off and leave benefits as well as well-being programs. Our total rewards offerings are influenced by several business factors, and eligibility for certain components will vary by position and geography. Please note the posted ranges do not apply outside the U.S. and should not be converted to other currencies as a proxy for compensation in other countries.
