Job description

Sr. ASIC New Product Manager, Kuiper Silicon Development Engineering

Join to apply for the Sr. ASIC New Product Manager, Kuiper Silicon Development Engineering role at Amazon

Job Description

Project Kuiper is Amazon’s initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit communications satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to underserved communities around the earth.

The Kuiper Engineering team is seeking a detail-oriented, results-driven, customer-centric Sr. ASIC New Product Planner with experience in pre-production development and manufacturing of semiconductor integrated circuit (IC) chips for digital and analog ASICs and SOCs. ASICs are the foundation of Kuiper’s aerospace and terrestrial networking infrastructure equipment and data services. The Sr. ASIC new product planner manages all aspects of Kuiper’s ASIC engineering sample work-order definition, execution, and downstream logistical supply fulfillment from initial design release through qualification into mass production transfer, aiming to accelerate time-to-market and impact customers globally.

The ideal candidate possesses deep knowledge of all phases of the semiconductor IC product lifecycle, development methodologies, and manufacturing flows/dependencies/cycle-times from post-GDSII tape-out through wafer foundry, package substrate fabrication, into OSAT contract manufacturing, applying module technologies such as FCBGAs, CSP, WLP, QNFs, SIPs. They have hands-on experience in sample supply/demand operations planning, executing technical interdependencies of NPI engineering builds, including DFM rule checks, process monitors yield data review, material lot release, configuration management, assembly instructions, wafer probe/final test routing, and binning. The candidate will lead external vendor and internal engineering teams in complex build and delivery logistics, identify and mitigate schedule risks, ensure quality adherence, and report on project status. Proactivity, ownership, passion for semiconductors, and a drive to solve challenging problems are essential, especially in launching space-craft and user terminal networks meeting performance, quality, and availability goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consolidate and prioritize internal silicon engineering design and validation requirements to facilitate bring-up, DVT, qualification, characterization, and downstream PCBA factory integration.
  • Translate demand requirements into supply build plans considering line capacity, yield loss, and test time constraints.
  • Communicate build plans to third-party vendors, oversee execution, and ensure on-time delivery to meet customer demand and maintain inventory levels.
  • Prepare product engineering build plans and assembly instructions within PLM systems, defining SKU naming, revisions, and part/label schemas.
  • Coordinate transportation logistics and export compliance across international semiconductor supply chains.
  • Drive wafer lot, package, and test lot plans, and manage raw materials procurement.
  • Plan and raise purchase orders, deploy chip supply to customers, and coordinate logistics for supply operations.
  • Maintain traceability records of wafer fab to assembly/test lot for sample supply chain tracking.
Export Control Requirement

Candidates must be U.S. citizens, nationals, Green Card holders, or legally admitted into the U.S. as refugees or asylum seekers due to export control laws.
