Job Description

Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities worldwide, designed to serve a wide range of users from households to organizations in areas without reliable connectivity.

We are seeking a Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer (ASIC) to define requirements and implement processes ensuring aerospace quality at a large scale. The ideal candidate is a systems thinker with strong analytical, technical, and communication skills, passionate about developing foundry and OSAT suppliers for high-quality, mission-critical hardware in volume production.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage quality performance of OSAT and foundry suppliers, including requirements definition, qualification, process validation, failure analysis, and continuous improvement.
• Develop and scale Kuiper’s quality system for early detection of process issues, enhancing product reliability and wafer yields.
• Establish and monitor OQC/IQC criteria across the ASIC supply chain.
• Qualify new suppliers.
• Oversee systems and tools for device traceability and key quality metrics.
• Represent Kuiper Supplier Quality in cross-functional initiatives.
• Travel as needed to meet program goals.
• Maintain AS9100D Lead Auditor certification.
• Deploy APQP/PPAP methodologies per AS9145 or similar standards.

Export Control Requirement

A Day in the Life

• Collaborate with product teams to own ASIC quality requirements.
• Improve reliability, reduce defects, and lead failure analysis for Kuiper production.
• Act as the quality face for ASIC foundry, OSAT, and component suppliers, communicating expectations and resolving issues.
• Lead ASIC quality assurance through device traceability and statistical process control.
• Lead resolution of quality events using structured failure analysis tools.

About The Team

The Kuiper Supplier Quality team aims to develop a vendor base capable of delivering aerospace-quality hardware at volume and cost targets. This role offers the opportunity to own quality for key categories, influence system design, and work in a data-driven, trust-based environment that values integrity and results.

Basic Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in electrical engineering, materials science, physics, or related fields.
• 7+ years’ experience in ASIC quality, manufacturing, testing, or failure analysis.
• Strong knowledge of statistics and data analysis tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years managing quality of OSAT/foundry partners.
• Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes and failure analysis.
• Experience with data analysis tools (JMP, Minitab).
• Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent Lean certification.
• Familiarity with industry standards (JEDEC, IPC, ISO, IATF, ANSI).
• ASQ Certified Quality Engineer.
