Xometry is seeking an experienced CNC machining cost estimator for our Pre-Sales Engineering team. The role involves client quoting, supplier sourcing, production planning, and supporting on-time order fulfillment. The ideal candidate will have 8-10 years of experience in CNC machining quoting, proficiency in CAD, and extensive knowledge of CNC manufacturing processes including multi-axis milling, turning, welding, grinding, and EDM. Strong communication skills and the ability to provide manufacturability feedback are essential.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

1. Analyze engineering models/drawings to determine manufacturing sequences that meet design intent and quality standards.
2. Estimate costs considering materials, tooling, manufacturing and inspection times, and equipment requirements.
3. Collaborate with Machinists, Quality, Engineering, and Management to ensure customer satisfaction.
4. Sourcing materials and finishes.
5. Estimate costs for prototypes, low, and high-volume production runs.

Must-Have Knowledge:

• Knowledge of various CNC machining technologies.
• Experience with programming and setup of CNC machines (3/4/5 axis milling, lathes, Swiss machines) and familiarity with custom tooling.
• Preferably, knowledge of welding, grinding, wire EDM, assemblies, and finishing processes.
• Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).
• Familiarity with protocols, standards, and machining applications.
• Ability to review RFQs, determine material and process requirements, and communicate with customers to clarify expectations.
• Experience working with vendors to optimize costs and solutions.
• Consolidating costs and creating detailed quote packages.
• Managing quote logs and tracking KPIs.

Additional Skills:

• Ability to interpret and manipulate engineering models and drawings, including GD&T.
• Provide technical support during CNC manufacturing.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical specifications.
• Analyze design for manufacturing (DFM) issues.
• Work effectively within a team environment.
