Who We Are Looking For

The CNC Programming Subject Matter Expert is responsible for assisting in the development of new computer aided manufacturing (CAM) technologies by serving as a go-to source of deep industry knowledge. This role is a vital part of the new start-up within our larger corporation focused on the product development process and provides the team with a resource who can help ideate new product features, test new products, and provide rapid and detailed feedback. You will also assess the quality and characteristics of historical examples of CNC activities, helping develop systems that automatically determine similar characteristics based partially on their knowledge and expertise. Success this role requires deep technical knowledge of CNC strategy and execution, super-user level expertise in CAM software, ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-discipline team, and ability to work well with others in a variety of venues spanning the shop floor to the conference room.

What You’ll Get To Do
  • Work with computer aided manufacturing (CAM) new product development teams to help design, assess, and test new CAM technologies from the perspective of an experienced industry insider
  • Identify pain points in existing CNC Programming ecosystem
  • Work with machine shops to assess the quality and attributes of their historical CAM data
  • Help develop products that integrate with existing CAM platforms to ensure a high-quality user experience
  • Create diverse and high-quality case studies for CNC programming activities to be used as test cases for new CAM products
What You Bring To The Team
  • 10+ years experience programming CNC machines
  • Deep experience with at least two Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) applications, including at least one of Mastercam, GibbsCAM, PowerMILL, NX CAM
  • Strong preference for NX experience
  • Experience with CNC lathes, 3-axis mills, 4-axis mills, mill-turn machines, 5+axis machines
  • Experience with a variety of toolpaths, including high-degree of freedom, surface contouring, and adaptive/dynamic toolpaths
  • Experience with hands-on machining tasks
  • Experience simulating machining operations and assessing the result
  • Experience in CNC machining fixture and work holding strategizing and design
  • Experience with machining plastics, non-ferrous alloys (aluminum, nickel, copper), ferrous alloys (stainless steel, cast iron, carbon steel), and specialty metals (titanium, Inconel, etc.)
  • Ability to assess the quality and characteristics of historical programming CNC operations
  • Ability to produce high quality CNC machining strategies given a part, specifications, and available shop capabilities and tooling.
  • Experience in directly reading, writing, and understanding G-Code
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, model-based definitions for geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)-based specifications
