Job summary

Hyundai Capital America seeks a Sr. Application Developer Associate for the Insurance Platform in Plano, TX. You will develop and optimize SQL/PL-SQL code, analyze data flows, and support production issues in an agile environment.

The role emphasizes documentation, testing support, and collaboration with business and technical teams to improve policy administration, underwriting, and claims processes.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years hands-on SQL and PL/SQL development, preferably in finance/insurance auto finance.
• Experience supporting SDLC activities including requirements, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field; certifications preferred.
• Certifications such as OCP SQL/PL-SQL or Agile (CSM) are a plus.
• Strong proficiency in writing, testing, and optimizing SQL/PL-SQL; solid data/DB concepts and performance tuning.

Responsibilities

• Write, review, optimize and maintain complex SQL, PL/SQL code for insurance contracts, cancellations, claims and reporting.
• Analyze existing code and data flows to identify defects and performance bottlenecks.
• Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis; resolve complex problems.
• Support unit/integration/UAT testing and document data flows and business rules.
• Prepare clear technical documentation for stakeholders.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Sr. Application Developer Associate, Insurance Platform supports auto insurance products and platforms through SQL and PL/SQL development, analysis, documentation, testing support, and production issue resolution within an agile delivery model. The role works with business and technical teams to maintain and improve data processes related to policy administration, underwriting, claims, cancellations, and reporting.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Write, review, optimize and maintain complex SQL, PL/SQL code supporting insurance contract administration, cancellations, claims and reporting

Analyze existing code, data flows, and business logic to identify defects, improvement opportunities, and performance bottlenecks.

Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, perform root cause analysis, and escape complex or recurring issues as appropriate.

Support unit testing, integration testing, and UAT activities, including analysis and timely resolution of identified issues.

Prepare and maintain technical documentation, data flows, and business rules related to insurance products for technical and business stakeholders.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

Minimum 4–6 years of hands‑on experience with SQL and PL/SQL development, preferably within finance, insurance, auto finance, or a related industry.

Experience supporting software development life cycle activities, including requirements review, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and production support.

Experience analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving application or data‑related issues in a technical support or development environment.

General knowledge of auto finance, insurance products, or related financial services business processes preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field.

Relevant certifications preferred, but not required, such as:

Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) – SQL/PL‑SQL

Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent Agile certification

Strong proficiency in writing, testing, and optimizing SQL and PL/SQL code.

Solid understanding of relational database concepts, data flows, and performance tuning.

Experience analyzing and troubleshooting application, data, or production support issues.

Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum delivery and software development life cycle practices.

Ability to prepare clear technical documentation, business rules, and data flow documentation.

Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration skills, including the ability to work effectively with business, technical, QA, and vendor partners.

Ability to manage assigned tasks with general supervision and escape complex issues as appropriate.

Working knowledge of project tracking and collaboration tools such as JIRA, SharePoint, or ServiceNow; familiarity with version control, ETL, data warehousing, or BI/reporting tools preferred.
