Job summary

The Goodkind Group, LLC is seeking a Senior Apparel Designer to join our team and help create a trend-forward juniors' ready-to-wear line with a focus on cut and sew knits, woven bottoms, and sets designed for Walmart.

You will collaborate with the Design Director, manage projects to meet deadlines, and develop detailed PLM technical packs while coordinating with overseas vendors and the graphic team to ensure accurate prints and production timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in fashion apparel design or related field.
• 4+ years of full-time professional design experience in cut-and-sew and woven categories.
• Experience in young adult/juniors' fashion preferred.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and PLM systems.
• Strong understanding of garment construction and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Design execution: produce fast, accurate apparel sketches using Illustrator for a juniors' W2W line for Walmart.
• Project management: organize daily tasks to meet deadlines and ensure timely delivery.
• Trend research: conduct in-depth research and present relevant trends aligned with vendor capabilities.
• Technical design: develop detailed technical packs in PLM to communicate specifications clearly.
• Collaboration: relay information to overseas vendors and address customer feedback effectively.
• Coordinate with graphic design team to align print/graphics directions for the line.
• Troubleshoot sample issues and propose solutions to maintain production timelines.
• Stay updated on market trends through regular trend and competitive shopping.
• Maintain organized notes and records to track ongoing projects.

Responsibilities

• Design Execution: Produce fast, accurate, and on-trend apparel sketches using Adobe Illustrator for a young adult ready-to-wear collection designed for Walmart.
• Project Management: Organize and manage daily tasks to meet critical deadlines, ensuring smooth workflow and timely delivery of projects.
• Trend Research: Conduct in-depth research and present relevant, brand appropriate trends aligned with vendor capabilities.
• Technical Design: Develop detailed technical packs in PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) to communicate design specifications clearly.
• Collaboration: Partner with the Design Director to relay accurate information to overseas vendors and address customer feedback effectively.
• Work closely with the graphic design team to align print and graphic direction for the line.
• Troubleshoot sample issues and propose practical solutions to maintain design integrity and production timelines.
• Trend Awareness: Stay updated on market trends through regular trend and competitive shopping.
• Documentation: Maintain organized notes and records to track ongoing projects efficiently in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Apparel Design or a related field
• 4+ years of full-time professional design experience in cut-and-sew and woven categories
• Experience in young adult/juniors' fashion is highly preferred
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and PLM systems
• Strong understanding of garment construction and manufacturing processes
• Exceptional organizational and time-management skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members, factories, and vendors
• Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset
• Curiosity and enthusiasm for learning and staying ahead of fashion trends
