Job summary

The Goodkind Group, LLC in NYC is seeking a Senior Apparel Designer to join our fast-paced team. You will help create a commercial young adult/juniors line for Walmart, with a heavy emphasis on cut-and-sew knits, woven bottoms, and sets, working closely with the Design Director.

Ideal candidates bring 4+ years of full-time design experience in cut-and-sew and woven categories, familiarity with Illustrator and PLM, and a passion for trend-driven, retail-ready fashion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Apparel Design or related field
• 4+ years of full-time design experience in cut-and-sew and woven categories
• Juniors/Young Adult fashion experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Design Execution: Produce fast, accurate apparel sketches using Adobe Illustrator
• Project Management: Hit deadlines and manage workflows
• Trend Research: Conduct in-depth trend and competitive research
• Technical Design: Build detailed tech packs within PLM systems
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with Design Director and overseas vendors
• Collaborate with graphics team on print/graphics directions
• Troubleshoot sample issues to keep production on schedule

Responsibilities

• Design Execution: Produce fast, accurate, and on-trend apparel sketches using Adobe Illustrator.
• Project Management: Stay highly organized to hit critical deadlines and ensure smooth project workflows.
• Trend Research: Run in-depth trend and competitive shopping research to pitch brand-appropriate concepts that align with vendor capabilities.
• Technical Design: Build detailed, accurate tech packs within PLM systems to communicate specifications overseas.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Partner with the Design Director to coordinate with overseas vendors and integrate customer feedback.
• Collaborate with the graphics team to align on print and graphic directions.
• Troubleshoot sample issues proactively to keep production on schedule.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Apparel Design or a related field.
• Experience: 4+ years of full-time professional design experience in cut-and-sew and woven categories. Juniors/Young Adult fashion experience is highly preferred.

• Tech Skills: Expert proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and PLM systems.
• Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of garment construction, manufacturing processes, and vendor communication.
