Job summary

Saicon is seeking a senior backend engineer to design, build, and deploy scalable backend systems in a hybrid model with Pasadena office days. You will lead technologists in crafting RESTful services using Java 17/21 and Python with Spring Boot, and design high-throughput data pipelines with Apache Kafka.

Expertise in AWS services, SQL/NoSQL databases, and a strong emphasis on testing and quality will be crucial. Collaboration across teams and strong communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional backend-focused design/development experience.
• Experience in scalable backend systems and data pipelines.
• Proficient in Java 17/21 and Python, with Spring Boot REST APIs.
• Experience with Kafka, AWS, and databases (SQL/NoSQL).
• Strong communication and teamwork; ability to work in Pasadena office 3 days per week.

• 10+ years of professional experience designing, developing, and deploying applications with a focus on backend
• Experience building and designing scalable backend systems
• Experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise with development experience in Java 17/21 and Python with building RESTful backend applications using Spring Boot
• Experience in designing, building and maintaining high-thought put low latency data pipelines using Apache Kafka
• Experience with AWS infrastructure and cloud services (Lambda, ECS/Fargate, API Gateway, CloudWatch, Secrets Manager, IAM)
• Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases
• Effective use of AI tools in your own day-to-day work
• Familiarity with software engineering development cycles
• Commitment to writing meaningful unit tests and integration tests
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Work at least 3 days out of our Pasadena office
