The Structures Company in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Sr Advanced Electrical Engineer for a 6‑month contract with extension potential. You will design, develop, and test PLC-based control systems for aerospace/defense applications, leveraging LabVIEW, VeriStand, and multiple PLC platforms.

Responsibilities include writing object-oriented code with function blocks, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical controls, and collaborating with suppliers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, or related field.
• 6+ years PLC programming across Emerson/AB/Phoenix Contact.
• Object-oriented coding with function blocks or add-on instructions.
• Experience writing code from scratch for controls systems.
• 6+ years LabVIEW, VeriStand, Python, and .NET.
• Git or TeamCenter for configuration management.
• SQL for structuring and querying databases.
• Experience with DAQs, sensors, oscilloscopes, multimeters, DEWEsoft.

Summary

Architects, develops, and tests PLC programs for new and existing equipment. Writes code using an object-oriented approach with function blocks or add-on instructions. Architects and writes PLC code from scratch. Troubleshoots electrical and mechanical control systems. Defines controls system requirements and develops detailed functional specifications. Maintains and modifies existing LabVIEW systems for evolving customer needs. Leads implementation and testing of new systems including code, electrical, and mechanical troubleshooting. Uses LabVIEW, VeriStand, Python, and .NET for control system development. Uses PLC platforms including Emerson, Allen-Bradley, and Phoenix Contact. Uses common test equipment such as DAQs, sensors, oscilloscopes, multimeters, pressure scanners, and DEWEsoft.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
• BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years of PLC programming experience with multiple hardware platforms including Emerson, Allen-Bradley, and Phoenix Contact.
• Ability to write code using an object-oriented approach utilizing function blocks or add-on instructions.
• Experience architecting and writing code from scratch.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical and mechanical control systems.
• 6+ years of experience with LabVIEW, VeriStand, Python, and .NET.
• Knowledge of software configuration tools such as Git or TeamCenter.
• Experience using SQL to structure and query databases.
• Experience with common test equipment such as DAQs, sensors, oscilloscopes, multimeters, pressure scanners, and DEWEsoft.
