We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Actuary/Sr. Actuary to lead our Commercial Agribusiness Pricing portfolio. This role is pivotal in driving modernization and strategic influence within our organization.
Lead the Commercial Agribusiness Pricing portfolio, managing a team of actuaries.
Serve as a strategic partner to business leaders across product, underwriting, finance, and claims.
Drive modernization efforts—introducing structure, templates, and analytics.
Present regularly to senior executives, providing insights and recommendations.
FCAS; ACAS with strong experience.
Background in commercial lines or agricultural pricing.
Proven change agent—able to lead transformation and build new processes.
Strong communicator with executive presence.
Comfortable navigating ambiguity and building from the ground up.
High visibility with senior leadership.

As a Senior Actuary, you’ll be an expert providing leadership and oversight for complex actuarial techniques, procedures, and risk analysis. You’ll manage research, direct others, and ensure efficient, consistent data and analysis. We’ll count on you to provide strategic vision and deliver business recommendations crucial to Nationwide’s success. You’ll work independently and may lead others.
Act as technical expert of actuarial methodologies, sourcing and manipulating data within standards, and identifying new data utilization strategies.
Conduct complex analyses, select appropriate data sources, make assumptions, and develop recommendations, resolving issues using experience and judgment.
Document assumptions, methods, sources, and considerations clearly.
Create presentations and recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences, representing the company's position with regulators and external vendors.
Oversee multiple work plans, ensuring timely delivery.
Lead peer review processes, drive cross-functional collaboration, and recommend process improvements.
Build relationships across the organization to drive solutions.
Identify skill gaps and develop training for associates.
Advise on data mining techniques and recommend software tools to support strategic goals, with expert knowledge in modeling and predictive analytics.
Consult on new product development, including data needs, coding, and profitability analysis.
Reports to: Actuarial leader.
Education: Undergraduate degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or data science.
Certification: Actuarial designation (FCAS preferred).
Experience: Typically 8+ years of actuarial experience.
Skills: Expert knowledge of actuarial methods, software, and industry practices; proficiency in Microsoft Office and analytical software; leadership and strategic agility.
