Position Overview

A growing retail/consumer products company in Irving, TX is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager with broad accounting experience beyond AP and AR, including general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.

Previous management experience is not required. The company welcomes experienced Senior Accountants and Accounting Supervisors who demonstrate strong accounting expertise, leadership potential, and readiness to grow into a management role.

The successful candidate will oversee daily accounting operations, review the work of three accounting staff, and help improve accounting processes and internal controls.

Compensation is flexible up to approximately $100K for well-qualified candidates.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including AP, AR, general ledger, and reconciliations.


• Prepare and review journal entries, financial schedules, and reports.


• Manage or support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.


• Review the work of three accounting staff and provide guidance, training, and support.


• Monitor collections, vendor payments, cash activity, and accounting discrepancies.


• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies.


• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.


• Coordinate with internal departments, external auditors, and other third parties.


• Support financial reporting and accounting documentation for the parent company in Japan.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.


• 3+ years of progressive, hands‑on accounting experience.


• Well‑rounded accounting experience beyond AP/AR, including GL, journal entries, reconciliations, month‑end close, and financial reporting.


• Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP.


• Ability to independently manage a broad range of accounting responsibilities.


• Strong Excel and ERP/accounting system skills.


• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.


• Ability to work on‑site five days per week in Irving, TX.

Preferred

• Experience supervising, training, mentoring, or reviewing accounting staff.


• Strong leadership potential, even without previous formal management experience.


• Experience as a Senior Accountant, Accounting Supervisor, Assistant Accounting Manager, or Accounting Manager.


• CPA or CPA candidate.


• Experience in retail, consumer products, wholesale/distribution, or high-volume transaction environments.


• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a comparable ERP.


• Japanese language skills or experience working with Japanese companies.


• Experience improving accounting processes or internal controls.

Additional Information

This is a fully on‑site position in Irving, TX. Some additional hours may be required during month‑end close, generally around 10 hours per month.
