Job summary

Warner Music Group is seeking a Senior Accountant 2 to join the Record to Report Accounting Team in the United States. The role focuses on advanced accounting, monthly closes, intercompany reconciliations, and analytics to support financial reporting under U.S. GAAP.

You will review work done by junior staff, collaborate with offshore teammates, and drive automation initiatives in BlackLine while ensuring SOX and internal controls compliance. A Big 4 background is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
  • 5–10 years in shared services or corporate accounting; Big 4 experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review the work of entry-level staff and provide feedback for improvements.
  • Perform advanced accounting tasks and analyses for monthly/quarterly financial reporting per U.S. GAAP.
  • Assist monthly close: prepare complex journal entries, monitor sub-ledger interfaces, and deliver close-related schedules.
  • Reconcile corporate cash activities and intercompany cash netting with Cash/Treasury teams.
  • Perform variance analyses for system reconciliations and ad hoc requests.
  • Assist with global intercompany reconciliation; monitor and resolve mismatches.
  • Collaborate with offshore team on deliverables and feedback.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities in BlackLine to improve close processes.
  • Ensure SOX, internal controls, accounting policies, and U.S. GAAP compliance.
  • Assist with internal/external audits, tax reporting, and preparation of schedules.
  • Maintain strong relationships with finance teams and support cross-functional projects.

A little bit about our team:

The Record to Report Accounting Team is responsible for managing all the center’s accounting and cash management functions. As a critical component of the Record to Report Accounting Team, the Accounting Operations Group provides accounting services and support to WMG’s US record labels and businesses.

Your role:

The Senior Accountant 2 is responsible for performing and managing advancedaccounting and reporting activities across labels/affiliates and reviewing the work of staff and offshore resources.

Here you’ll get to:
  • Review the work of entry-level staff members and provide feedback for corrections and process improvements.
  • Perform advanced accounting tasks and analyses to support monthly and quarterly financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Assist in the successful execution of the monthly close process, including preparing complex journal entries, monitoring sub-ledger interfaces, and ensuring the timely analysis, preparation, and submission of close-related deliverables.
  • Reconcile corporate cash activities and the intercompany cash netting process by coordinating with the Cash and Treasury teams and resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Perform variance analyses related to system reconciliations and ad hoc requests, providing timely support and explanations to stakeholders.
  • Assist with the global intercompany reconciliation process by monitoring and resolving intercompany mismatches that impact the financial close.
  • Collaborate with offshore team members by reviewing deliverables, providing feedback, and supporting the accurate and timely completion of assigned activities.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities within BlackLine to enhance the close process and improve operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX requirements, internal controls, accounting policies, and U.S. GAAP.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests, tax reporting requirements, and the preparation of supporting schedules and documentation.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with business unit finance teams and other stakeholders while supporting cross-functional initiatives and special projects as needed.
About you:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5-10 years of experience in Shared Service or Corporate Accounting and/or experience with a Big 4 CPA firm
