Base pay range

$90,000.00/yr - $100,000.00/yr

The Role

MRO MaryRuth, LLC is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant who will be responsible for analyzing and preparing day-to-day and month-end journal entries and transactions including, but not limited to, marketing and operating expense accruals, sales tax oversight, and preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and other ad hoc journal entries. The Sr. Accountant will ensure that all month-end operating expenses and marketing spend is properly recorded and will reconcile balance sheet accounts and help to implement best practices and proper internal controls. This person will also be responsible for ensuring that all sales taxes are being collected and paid out by third-party processing partners in an accurate and timely manner as well as assisting in research for licensing and tax requests that are received. This role will require the individual to coordinate activities with both internal and external partners and, as needed, prepare reporting and audit requirements associated with their functions. In addition, the Senior Accountant will ensure internal control and compliance policies are consistently being reached. The Sr. Accountant will report directly to the Accounting Manager. This is a full-time (40 hr/wk), salary-exempt, remote position. The compensation range for this role is $90,000 to $100,000 USD/year.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and reconcile monthly OPEX and marketing accruals.
  • Support the month-end close process to streamline close workflows.
  • Confirm sales tax collection and collaborate with MRO’s third-party partners to ensure that taxes are paid precisely and on time.
  • Assist with state income tax inquiries and projects.
  • Create, document, and optimize relevant department Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve any resulting variances.
  • Act as a strategic partner to the Marketing department to facilitate decision-making in budgeting and spend.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to support business objectives and drive financial success.
  • Support the buildout of proper internal controls surrounding the accruals process.
  • Some travel (<5%) may be required on an as needed basis, with advance notice provided to the employee.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in accounting is required; CPA preferred.
  • Public accounting firm experience work a plus.
  • Demonstrated CPG experience is strongly preferred; experience with high-volume transactions in a direct to consumer and/or and retail sales structure also preferred.
  • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems required; experience specifically in NetSuite is ideal.
  • Strong Excel skills are required; pivot tables, X/V-lookups, etc.
  • Reconciliation and journal entry preparation and posting experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong ability to collaborate.
