Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with full-cycle month-end close.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (O365), especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records and reconcile data; support strategic financial planning.
  • Prepare financial statements per GAAP and healthcare standards; handle accruals, prepaids, fixed assets.
  • Manage full-cycle month-end close, including reconciliations, P&L, and journal entries.
  • Support audits with variance analysis and data verification; coordinate intercompany postings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on finance-related projects.

HYBRID/ONSITE/REMOTE: Hybrid 4 days in office, after training
REPORTS TO: Accounting Mgr
SUMMARY

Under the guidance of Accounting Supervisor or Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant is responsible for performing highly specialized accounting work required to review and maintain the accuracy of financial statements. They will participate in the development and implementation of financial strategies and initiatives in support of the organization's mission and goals. This role requires a deep understanding of GAAP, healthcare accounting practices, and internal controls to ensure compliance and accuracy across multiple entities. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in the month-end close process, financial analysis, and cross-functional collaboration, contributing directly to the organization's financial integrity and operational success

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain accurate and timely financial records, reconcile financial data, and contribute to the organization's strategic financial planning
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and healthcare industry standards; accrual accounting, prepaids, fixed assets, revenue recognition
Monthly Closing and Reconciliation
  • Manage full cycle month-end and year-end closing process, including but not limited to Balance Sheet accounts reconciliation, P&L, journal entries, and financial reporting
  • Examine daily bank transactions, AR, AP and payroll, post the necessary transactions to the facility ledger if necessary
  • Ensure accurate and timely posting of intercompany and subsidiary transactions to maintain clean facility ledgers
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliation and schedule of expenses on a monthly basis
Financial Reporting and Analysis
  • Respond to audit requests, perform variance and flux analysis, and support external auditors during examinations
  • Reconcile credit card charges/statements and verify expenses with proper documentation
  • Review daily banking activity and reconcile transactions across AR, AP, payroll, and cash accounts for multiple facilities
Strategic & Cross-Functional Support
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects that impact the financial performance of the organization
  • Participate in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures, supporting long-term operational and financial goals
  • Perform other duties as necessary or assigned by the Supervisor or Department Head
EDUCATION and/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience with interpreting and applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and other regulatory requirements
  • Experience with working on the full cycle month-end close
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (O365), particularly in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
