Job summary

Florida Blue is seeking a Senior Accountant in Jacksonville to lead financial statement preparation, complex journal entries, and reconciliations while ensuring compliance with accounting standards. You will mentor junior staff and collaborate with external auditors to support annual audits.

The role requires 5+ years in a senior accounting capacity, strong analytical and communication skills, and proficiency in Excel and accounting software.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flows.
  • Analyze financial data and provide strategic recommendations to management.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Manage and reconcile high volume and complex general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare and process complicated journal entries.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and support during audits.
  • Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff.
  • Provide technical guidance to other departments on accounting matters.

Job description

Job Summary: Senior accountants are responsible for managing and overseeing various accounting and financial functions, including financial statement preparation, preparing complex journal entries and reconciliations. The Senior Accountant will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing accounting guidance to other areas of the business.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Analyze financial data and provide strategic recommendations to management
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations
  • Manage and reconcile high volume and complex general ledger accounts
  • Prepare and process complicated journal entries
  • Collaborate with external auditors and provide support during audits
  • Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other departments on accounting-related matters
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting standards and regulations and implement changes as necessary
Required Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior accounting role

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

Experience with accounting software and systems

Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

Annualized Salary Range: $84,500 - $137,300
Typical Annualized Hiring Range: $84,500 - $105,600
Final pay will be determined with consideration of market competitiveness, internal equity, and the job-related knowledge, skills, training, and experience you bring.
