Job summary

CarShield is seeking a mid-level SQL Server Data Engineer to join its Data Services team in St. Peters, MO. The role focuses on designing and optimizing databases, building reliable data solutions, and ensuring data flows from collection to reporting at scale.

You will design databases, write T-SQL, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines while collaborating with engineers and data scientists. On-site at the St. Peters headquarters, a strong drive to learn and excel is expected.

Qualifications

• Four+ years of experience as a SQL Server Data Engineer.
• Strong understanding of SQL, database design, normalization, and internals.
• Experience creating, managing, and monitoring ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Experience with BI tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design new databases and enhance existing structures.
• Write SQL/T-SQL queries and stored procedures to support needs.
• Create, monitor, and optimize data pipelines (ETL/ELT).
• Troubleshoot issues, document causes, and implement durable solutions.
• Improve performance via indexing, design improvements, and query rewriting.
• Monitor database health and respond to failures.
• Collaborate with software engineers and data scientists to optimize data flow.
• Gather, document, and implement stakeholder requirements.
• Continuously develop technical knowledge for the role.
