Job summary

CarShield is seeking a mid-level SQL Server Data Engineer to join its Data Services team. You will design and improve databases, develop reliable data solutions, optimize performance, and help maintain data flow from collection through reporting in a scalable environment.

As part of the role, you will design databases, write T-SQL queries, build and monitor ETL/ELT pipelines, and work closely with software engineers and data scientists to ensure accurate data delivery from source to reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or MIS or equivalent practical experience.
• At least four years of SQL Server Data Engineer experience.
• Strong SQL, database design, and normalization knowledge.
• Experience with ETL/ELT data pipelines and BI tools preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design new databases and enhance existing database structures.
• Write SQL queries and Transact-SQL stored procedures to support business and technical requirements.
• Create, manage, and monitor data pipelines supporting ETL and ELT processes.
• Troubleshoot incoming issues, document root causes, and implement durable solutions.
• Improve database performance through query rewriting, indexing, and database design.
• Monitor database health and respond appropriately when systems or processes fail.
• Collaborate with software engineers and data scientists to improve data flow from collection through reporting.
• Gather, document, and implement requirements from business stakeholders.
• Continuously develop the technical knowledge and skills required for the role.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
