Job summary

ESS Companies, Inc. is seeking a data engineer to own the data pipelines and platform architecture on-site in Missouri.

You will manage automated ingestion into a data warehouse, monitor performance, and evolve the data model to support reporting and decision-making across subsidiaries. The role requires strong SQL and Python, hands-on experience with cloud warehouses (BigQuery preferred), and the ability to collaborate with Finance, HR, and Operations.

Qualifications

• Strong data engineering fundamentals with clean, maintainable SQL and Python.
• Experience building and operating production data pipelines.
• Hands-on with a cloud data warehouse (BigQuery preferred; Snowflake/Redshift acceptable).

Responsibilities

• Own data pipelines from ingestion to modeling and reporting.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot failures, and handle schema changes.
• Define layering, naming conventions, and cost efficiency for the warehouse.
• Maintain and evolve cloud warehouse architecture and data models.
• Partner with Finance, HR, and Operations to translate business needs into data structures.
