COOLSOFT is seeking a Sql Server 2008 Azure Administrator for a contract engagement in Tallahassee, FL. The successful candidate will manage SQL Server databases (2012+), Oracle, Azure SQL, and related tools, ensuring performance, security, and reliability across environments.

Five+ years of DBA experience preferred. Start Date: 08/24/2026; End Date: 06/30/2027; Duration: 10 months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Five+ years combined experience in database administration across SQL Server, Oracle, and Azure SQL.
• Expert in SQL Server 2012+ and relational database design.
• Experience with ArcGIS for Server and GIS/spatial databases.
• Ability to design and optimize database schemas per department standards.

Responsibilities

• Daily operational and database administration activities.
• Plan, design, implement, support for database structures.
• Conduct database performance monitoring and tuning.
• Develop and maintain database administration procedures and documentation.
• Perform SQL code reviews.

Description:

Scope of Services

The DBA team is responsible for ensuring the application and processing architectures, data dictionaries, and database schemas meet the department standards for data requirements. The candidate in this position will be responsible for assisting in the design, development, amendments and optimization of the schema to meet system(s) requirements. The candidate must be able to understand and demonstrate the ability to develop database and warehousing design across multiple platforms and computing environments. The candidate must be able to work as part of a team to assist in developing an overall data architecture that supports the Departments needs and meets Department and Agency for State Technology (AST) security standards.

Education

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.

Experience

The candidate must have skill and five (5) years combined experience in database administration for the following database platforms:

• 1.Expert in SQL Server 2012, and above
• 2.Oracle 10g and above
• 3.Experience with Azure SQL is a plus
• 4.Experience with AWS SQL tools is a plus
• 5.Experience with managing ArcGIS for Server is a plus
• 6.Experience with GIS and spatial databases

Primary Job Duties/ Tasks:

• 1. Daily operational and database administration activities
• 2. Plan, design, implement, support for database structures
