Job summary

Akaasa Technologies in Tallahassee, FL is seeking a seasoned DB2 Database Administrator onsite for an 8+ month engagement. You will manage DB2 for z/OS, SQL Server, and Oracle environments, optimize schemas, and ensure security and performance.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's in CS or related field and roughly 15 years combined database administration experience across DB2 for z/OS, SQL Server, and Oracle, plus strong JCL, ISPF, CICS, and RACF knowledge. Local candidates preferred.

Qualifications

• 15 years combined experience in database administration across DB2 for z/OS, SQL Server, and Oracle.
• Experience with FDOT infrastructure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily DB planning and operational activities for multiple platforms.

• Conduct performance monitoring and tuning of databases.
• Develop and maintain database administration procedures and documentation.
• Carry out SQL code reviews and knowledge transfer to staff.

Scope of Services

The DBA team is responsible for ensuring the application and processing architectures, data dictionaries, and database schemas meet the department standards for data requirements. The candidate in this position will be responsible for assisting in the design, development, amendments and optimization of the schema to meet system(s) requirements. The candidate must be able to understand and demonstrate the ability to develop database and warehousing design across multiple platforms and computing environments. The candidate must be able to work as part of a team to assist in developing an overall data architecture that supports the Department's needs and meets Department and Agency for State Technology (AST) security standards.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.

Experience

The candidate must have skill and 15 years combined experience in database administration for the following database platforms:

• DB2 for z/OS
• SQL Server 2008R2, 2012 2. Oracle 10g and above
• Experience with the FDOT integrated database infrastructure is a plus.
• Knowledge of the FDOT Financial Management applications is a plus.
• Knowledge of the FDOT integrated application environment is a plus

Primary Job Duties/ Tasks

This resource will primarily be tasked with performing Database (DB2, SQL Server, Oracle, GIS) planning and operational activities including, but not limited to the following:

• Daily operational and database administration activities
• Plan, design, implement, support for database structures
• Conduct database performance monitoring and tuning
• Develop and maintain database administration procedures and documentation
• Perform SQL Code reviews
• Assist with training/mentoring other technical staff This resource may also be required to perform other database or infrastructure activities as requested
