Position Summary
Client is seeking a Senior Data Engineer - Microsoft Fabric & Azure to lead the implementation, development, and ongoing management of a modern cloud data platform using Microsoft Fabric and Azure data services.
This is primarily a hands-on Data Engineering role, not a traditional BI Developer position. The ideal candidate will have strong experience building scalable data platforms, implementing Lakehouse and Medallion architectures, developing data pipelines, integrating enterprise data sources, and working across the Azure ecosystem.
The successful candidate will combine strong Data Engineering, Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Data Warehousing, and Data Architecture experience and will help establish scalable data solutions that support analytics, reporting, and advanced data initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and engineering of Microsoft Fabric across the organization.
- Design and implement scalable data engineering and cloud data platform solutions.
- Develop and manage Fabric Lakehouse, Warehouse, OneLake, Pipelines, Spark Notebooks, and related Fabric services.
- Design and implement Medallion Architecture and modern Lakehouse data patterns.
- Build reliable, scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric and Azure services.
- Develop integrations using Azure Data Factory (ADF) and other Azure data integration technologies.
- Work with ADLS Gen2, Azure Synapse, Azure SQL, and other Azure data services.
- Design data models, schemas, data products, and reusable data engineering frameworks.
- Implement data ingestion, transformation, cleansing, validation, and orchestration processes.
- Develop solutions using SQL/T-SQL, Spark, PySpark, and Fabric Notebooks.
- Support migration of existing data workloads into Microsoft Fabric/Azure.
- Establish development, testing, deployment, and production environments for data solutions.
- Implement CI/CD and source-control practices using Azure DevOps, Azure Repos, and Git.
- Work with architects, business stakeholders, analysts, and application teams to translate requirements into technical data solutions.
- Troubleshoot data pipelines, integration processes, performance issues, and production data workloads.
- Establish technical documentation, development standards, and data engineering best practices.
- Provide ongoing administration, optimization, and support of the Fabric/Azure data platform.
- Support downstream analytics and reporting solutions, including Power BI, where required.
Required Qualifications
- Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, Data Integration, or related data platform roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric.
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric OneLake and Lakehouse architecture.
- Strong understanding of Medallion Architecture and modern data platform patterns.
- Hands-on experience developing data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
- Strong experience with the Microsoft Azure data ecosystem.
- Strong experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF).
- Experience with Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 (ADLS Gen2).
- Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics.
- Experience with Spark/PySpark and Spark Notebooks.
- Experience with Fabric Pipelines and data orchestration.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, and Azure Repos.
- Experience designing and implementing data warehouse/data lake/ lakehouse solutions.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, data integration, data quality, and data governance.
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical data solutions.
- Strong communication, documentation, troubleshooting, and stakeholder-management skills.
