Job summary

Peregrine Advisors is seeking a database-focused engineer to design and build the data layer for a federal enterprise platform. You will model data across AWS services, optimize performance, and ensure secure, auditable data practices.

The role requires strong SQL, experience with Aurora and DynamoDB, and loading data from S3. This is a hybrid, full-time position based in the Washington, DC area with competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of database development experience.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Experience with Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL-compatible.
• Experience with DynamoDB and GSIs/LSIs.
• SQL skills across complex queries, views, procedures, and functions.
• ETL/ELT development across AWS services (Aurora, DynamoDB, S3).
• Data security controls including encryption, access management, and auditing.
• Data loading from S3 with ODBC/JDBC connectivity.
• Proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Design database schemas and write views, stored procedures, functions, and SQL queries.
• Build and maintain data pipelines (ETL/ELT) including S3 data loads.
• Optimize queries to meet high-volume performance targets.
• Model data across AWS stores (Aurora, DynamoDB, S3).
• Ensure data accuracy, security, and auditable changes.
• Collaborate with developers, architects, and data engineers on data access patterns.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools for query, pipeline, and debugging tasks.
