DCY is working with a vendor to migrate a few SQL-based applications into the Azure Cloud environment, and we need this DBA to take the lead in learning the applications in the current system to manage them effectively in the Cloud environment.

  • Provide DBA support for distributed servers across multiple data centers.
  • Monitor daily activities and performance of complex SQL environments, analyze technical issues, recommend adjustments, and implement approved solutions using established tools and techniques.
  • Assist application development teams and colleagues with SQL design and programming.
  • Configure SQL services (e.g., security, JDBC, clusters), plan, install, upgrade, and maintain SQL Server environments, and build new environments as needed.
  • Coordinate with network, IIS administrators, and storage teams for SQL server configurations.
  • Create technical documents, project plans, and interact with customers regarding proposed solutions.
  • Provide support for deploying code in non-production and production environments, troubleshoot, and resolve application issues.
  • Support DevOps tools (Ansible, Jenkins, Nexis, Mavin, Bitbucket, Kony Mobile, Nginx, etc.).
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management based on project or application needs.
  • Provide Tier III technical support, develop project plans with project managers, and define tasks for approach recommendations.
  • Lead meetings on database design, implementation, operation, and maintenance.
  • Design and recommend hardware for cluster nodes, set up cluster nodes, configure interconnects, and install cluster and database management software on all nodes.
  • Monitor load balancing, tune cluster parameters for high performance, and configure standby servers.
  • Implement log shipping, replication, and other database features.
  • Provide technical leadership to foster database innovation and champion automation.
  • Support strategic planning for database architecture, resource management, and capacity planning.
  • Ensure best practices in database design, performance, and resilience.
  • Evaluate and propose design and process improvements for performance and cost optimization.
  • Identify inefficiencies, oversee improvements, and plan for scalability.
  • Implement risk management controls and ensure compliance with policies.
  • Lead incident resolution efforts and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Research and recommend database products, services, and standards.
  • Manage virtualized infrastructure across Unix, Linux, and AIX systems.
  • Update storage structures and database security protocols regularly.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to less experienced personnel.

Additionally, work with project management to support timely client communication regarding deployments and upgrades.
