Position: SQL Server Database Administrator

Location: Columbus, OH – Remote (onsite may be required for a few days a week)

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced database administrator to lead high-caliber database design, solution delivery, and support in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will be a technical leader with deep expertise in databases and a collaborative style that fosters innovation and excellence. The role involves managing MS SQL Server environments, including SQL Server databases on VM servers.

The candidate will collaborate with other database administrators managing various platforms, including Azure Cloud and Oracle Databases.

The SQL Server DBA will ensure best practices in database planning, design, configuration, performance, and capacity planning to maximize reliability and performance. They will work with the team to meet goals and metrics, especially as we migrate applications to Azure Cloud.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing support for distributed servers in multi-datacenter environments.
• Monitoring and analyzing SQL environment performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing solutions.
• Assisting application development with SQL design and programming.
• Configuring SQL services, managing releases, migrations, upgrades, and building environments.
• Coordinating with network, IIS, and storage teams for SQL configurations.
• Developing technical documentation, project plans, and interacting with customers.
• Supporting deployment and troubleshooting of applications.
• Supporting DevOps tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, Bitbucket, etc.
• Leading meetings on database design, implementation, and maintenance.
• Designing and configuring cluster nodes, load balancing, and high availability solutions.
• Implementing log shipping, replication, and other high-availability features.
• Providing technical leadership to foster innovation and automation.
• Planning for database architecture, resource management, and capacity growth.
• Ensuring best practices in database design, performance, and resilience.
• Proposing improvements for performance and cost optimization.
• Overseeing capacity planning and scalability efforts.
• Managing risks and ensuring compliance with security protocols.
• Leading incident resolution and corrective actions.
• Researching and recommending database products and standards.
• Managing virtualized infrastructure across Unix, Linux, and AIX systems.
• Updating security protocols and patches.
• Providing guidance to less experienced personnel.
