Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an apprentice to assist in installing fire protection piping and sprinkler systems for commercial and industrial applications. The role requires willingness to work alternative shifts or weekends to meet customer needs and to perform duties safely and professionally.

Responsibilities include assisting foreman with various sprinkler systems, following safety policies, documenting work, and adhering to instructions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to work sites and classroom instruction.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Physically capable of performing essential functions of the apprenticeship, with/without accommodations.
• Must be able to communicate in English, verbally and in writing.

How you will do it

• Assist foreman in the installation of wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge sprinkler systems

• Follow all safety policies

• Maintain proper documentation for work performed

• Must adhere to company safety policies and procedures

• Follow verbal and written instructions

• Carry/move equipment and tools weighing up to 70lbs and be capable of performing physical labor

• Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment

• Maintain a clean and safe work area

• Have a positive attitude and the ability to learn quickly

• Be enrolled in Grinnell's approved Apprenticeship Program, maintaining all requirements of the Apprenticeship Standards

What we look for

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $17.00-20.00 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience,knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with marketdata.)
