Job summary

Hall & Kay, a long-established fire protection and security solutions provider, seeks a Main Contracts Design Engineer to lead the design, coordination and technical delivery of automatic sprinkler systems for major construction projects across sectors.

You will collaborate with clients, consultants and internal teams to ensure compliant, cost-effective designs that meet project programmes and industry standards, from concept to commissioning.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing automatic sprinkler systems within fire protection.
• Strong knowledge of LPC Rules and BS EN 12845 requirements.
• Experience producing hydraulic calculations.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Desirable BIM experience and LPC qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed sprinkler designs from concept through construction and commissioning.
• Produce hydraulic calculations to meet standards and client needs.
• Prepare drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, BIM and related software.
• Coordinate with other building services disciplines and construction teams.
• Support project delivery from design through handover and site surveys.
• Assist with design reviews, progress meetings and design coordination workshops.
• Contribute to procurement evaluations and cost-conscious design decisions.
• Ensure design documentation is complete and compliant with procedures.
