Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an apprentice to assist in installing fire protection piping and sprinkler systems for commercial and industrial applications. The role requires willingness to work alternative shifts or weekends to meet customer needs and to perform duties safely and professionally.

Responsibilities include assisting foreman with various sprinkler systems, following safety policies, documenting work, and adhering to instructions.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to work sites and classroom instruction.
Ability to work well with others.
Physically capable of performing essential functions of the apprenticeship, with/without accommodations.
Must be able to communicate in English, verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

Assist foreman in installing wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge sprinkler systems.
Follow all safety policies.
Maintain proper documentation for work performed.
Adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
Follow verbal and written instructions.
Carry/move equipment weighing up to 70 lbs and perform physical labor.
Work in unusual positions, such as ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment.
Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Demonstrate a positive attitude and quick learning.
Be enrolled in Grinnell’s approved Apprenticeship Program and meet all requirements.
