Collins Aerospace (RTX) is seeking a Systems Engineering Co-op to support a multidisciplinary team in verification, analysis, and documentation within a complex aerospace environment. You will assist with requirements interpretation, testing, and documenting findings while collaborating across disciplines.

The role emphasizes ownership of tasks, clear technical questions, and professional communication, with onsite work in the U.S. and opportunities to contribute to process improvements.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related STEM discipline, enrolled through the co-op period.
• Must have a minimum of 60 credit hours by the start of the co-op.
• Experience with structured analytical or engineering workflows and documenting technical findings.

What You Will Do

As a Systems Engineering Co‑op at Collins Aerospace (RTX), you will support a multidisciplinary engineering team by contributing to verification activities, structured analysis, and documentation efforts within a complex aerospace systems environment.

• Assist with requirements interpretation, structured testing activities, and analysis of system behavior.
• Document engineering observations, compile evidence, and communicate results to mentors and teammates.
• Contribute to process‑focused improvements such as standardizing documentation formats and strengthening traceability between requirements, evaluations, and results.
• Collaborate with engineers across multiple disciplines, gaining hands‑on exposure to real‑world systems engineering workflows.
• Participate in regular team meetings to review progress, plan weekly objectives, and share findings.
• Demonstrate strong ownership of assigned tasks and follow through to completion.
• Ask clear, well‑formed technical questions and seek guidance appropriately.
• Maintain professionalism, reliability, and strong communication across all interactions.
• Work independently when appropriate while knowing when to involve teammates or mentors.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related STEM discipline, and actively enrolled through the completion of the co‑op session.
• Must have a minimum of 60 credit hours by the start of the co‑op.
• Experience with structured analytical or engineering workflows (may include coursework, research, projects, or prior work).
• Experience with technical documentation or communicating technical findings in a clear written format.
• Experience may be obtained through on‑the‑job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Prior RTX internship, co‑op, or aerospace-related experience
• Familiarity with structured requirements interpretation or verification concepts
• Experience working independently in unfamiliar technical domains.
• Strong interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.

Onsite Role Definition

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

Salary

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD.

The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

Location & Eligibility

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
