Job summary

RTX is seeking a Systems Engineering Co-op to support a multidisciplinary engineering team in verification activities and documentation within a complex aerospace environment.

You will assist with requirements interpretation, testing, and analysis of system behavior, while documenting observations and communicating results to mentors and teammates.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems or related STEM field and enrolled through co-op.
• Minimum of 60 credit hours by start of co-op.
• Experience with analytical or engineering workflows (courses, projects, or prior work).
• Experience with documenting technical findings clearly.

Responsibilities

• Support verification activities within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Assist with requirements interpretation and structured testing.
• Document observations, compile evidence, and communicate results to mentors.
• Contribute to documentation standardization and traceability between requirements, evaluations and results.
• Collaborate with engineers across multiple disciplines and participate in team meetings.

What You Will Do

• As a Systems Engineering Co‑op at Collins Aerospace (RTX), you will support a multidisciplinary engineering team by contributing to verification activities, structured analysis, and documentation efforts within a complex aerospace systems environment.
• Assist with requirements interpretation, structured testing activities, and analysis of system behavior.
• Document engineering observations, compile evidence, and communicate results to mentors and teammates.
• Contribute to process‑focused improvements such as standardizing documentation formats and strengthening traceability between requirements, evaluations, and results.
• Collaborate with engineers across multiple disciplines, gaining hands‑on exposure to real‑world systems engineering workflows.
• Participate in regular team meetings to review progress, plan weekly objectives, and share findings.
• Demonstrate strong ownership of assigned tasks and follow through to completion.
• Ask clear, well‑formed technical questions and seek guidance appropriately.
• Maintain professionalism, reliability, and strong communication across all interactions.
• Work independently when appropriate while knowing when to involve teammates or mentors.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related STEM discipline, and actively enrolled through the completion of the co‑op session.
• Must have a minimum of 60 credit hours by the start of the co‑op.
• Experience with structured analytical or engineering workflows (may include coursework, research, projects, or prior work).
• Experience with technical documentation or communicating technical findings in a clear written format.
• Experience may be obtained through on‑the‑job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Prior RTX internship, co‑op, or aerospace-related experience.
• Familiarity with structured requirements interpretation or verification concepts.
• Experience working independently in unfamiliar technical domains.
• Strong interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.

• The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
