Job summary

Qualifications

• Coaching at high school or college level preferred.
• CPR and First Aid training completed or in progress.
• Prefer experience as a teacher or LCPS classified employee.
• Virginia Teaching License or classified employee status preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high academic standards for student-athletes.
• Assist athletic director/principal in hiring/retention of assistant coaches.
• Direct, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches.
• Coordinate insurance coverage for all athletes with AD.
• Collaborate with head coaches to run a well-balanced program.
• Foster sportsmanship, pride, and school spirit among participants.
• Direct training, conditioning, and performance of varsity team.
• Be present at varsity contests; supervise athletes at others when possible.
• Advise on schedules and officiating decisions; manage equipment needs.
• Oversee facility conditions and eligibility lists; remove players if needed.
• Recruit support staff (equipment managers, scorekeepers, etc.).
• Maintain records, statistics, and team photos; nominate varsity letters.
