Job summary

LatinoJustice PRLDEF (LJP), headquartered in New York City, is seeking an Advocacy Intern to support the Advocacy Department from our New York HQ. The intern will work on advancing voting rights, criminal legal reform, immigrant rights, and economic justice campaigns while developing policy and community engagement skills.

Qualifications

• Interest in criminal justice, voting rights or immigration rights advocacy.
• Strong writing skills and ability to communicate clearly.
• Hybrid schedule availability to discuss at offer time.
• Formerly incarcerated individuals encouraged to apply.
• Public speaking and administrative support experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to the Advocacy Team on voting rights, criminal justice, economic justice, and immigrant rights.
• Identify policy reforms benefiting the Latinx community.
• Research laws and legislative amendments across various issues.
• Assist with drafting comments and memos of support or opposition.
• Provide administrative support for staff trainings and workshops during sessions.
• Identify new coalitions and partnerships for advocacy campaigns.
• Collaborate with Communications to support advocacy campaigns.
• Support community engagement efforts across regions.
• Participate in coalition and internal advocacy meetings.
