Job summary

McKenney's Inc. seeks an Intern to join the Safety team, contributing from day one with training and meaningful tasks that support project safety, incident analysis, and best-practices implementation.

The role emphasizes initiative, teamwork, and data-driven insights to reduce injuries and ensure everyone returns home safely. The program has a history of developing Co-ops into industry leaders.

Qualifications

  • Sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student in Risk Management or related degree.
  • Proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office, webapps and database software.
  • Excellent communication across PMs, drafting, field staff and shops.
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented and detail-focused.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in fast-paced environments.
  • Preferred: Experience with data analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Assist safety team on project safety efforts.
  • Analyze safety data for trends using predictive tools and share insights with the business.
  • Assist root-cause analysis of injuries and near misses.
  • Walk jobsites and shops to learn workflows, identify hazards, and check safety compliance.
  • Respond to safety inquiries from PMs, APMs, and Field Leaders.

Job description

JOB SUMMARY

As an Intern, you will be part of the team from day one and given training and tasks that are important and impactfulto our projects' success.
Success in this role depends on the Intern's initiative and teamwork skills. A successful Intern will cultivate strongrelationships and leverage data-driven insights to implement best practices that protect lives, reduce injuries, andenhance safety-ensuring everyone returns home the same way they arrived.
McKenney's has a long history of success in hiring Co-ops and supporting their evolution into industry leaders. Manyof our current senior leaders began their journey in the Co-op program.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work alongside Safety Specialists and Safety Managers to help project safety efforts.
  • Utilizing tools, such as predictive AI, regularly review and analyze safety data for significant trends and support efforts in communicating those trends and lessons learned with the business.
  • Support root cause analysis of incidents related to injuries and near misses.
  • Walk jobsites and fabrication shops with safety team to learn about construction workflow, identify hazards, and survey for adherence to safety values.
  • Assist in responding to project-related safety inquiries by PMs, APMs, and Field Leaders.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Candidates must be a Sophomore, Junior,Senior, or Graduate student currently enrolled at an accredited university majoring in RiskManagement, Occupational Safety, or arelated degree.
    * Proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office, webapps, and database software.

  • Productive in fast-paced environments with strongmultitasking skills.
  • Able to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manageworkload efficiently.
  • Skilled at building trust and long-lasting professional
    relationships.
  • Excellent problem-solver.
PREFERRED QALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with Data Analytics
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORTS
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office environment.
  • No or limited exposure to physical risk; occasional jobsite visits may require climbing permanent and temporary stairs/ladders, passenger use of hoists, and navigating active construction areas.
  • Light physical effort handling average weight objects up to 50 pounds may be required occasionally.
