Job summary

Excel Sports Management is seeking a Spring 2027 Basketball Marketing Intern in West Hollywood, CA. This paid, hybrid internship runs January 11, 2027, to May 6, 2027, with in-office time about 3 days per week. Interns must work 24–29.9 hours weekly and arrange their own housing and transportation.

Interns will brainstorm ideas, assist with NBA tentpole events, support client marketing and community relations projects, and learn how Excel’s marketing team operates across divisions.

Qualifications

• Eligible for Spring 2027 internship; must be enrolled in college or graduate program.
• Availability to work under 30 hours per week; able to travel to West Hollywood office 3 days/week.
• Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree acceptable; graduate students allowed.

Responsibilities

• Brainstorm marketing ideas for clients and campaigns.
• Assist with NBA Tentpole events (e.g., NBA All Star Weekend).
• Help execute client marketing and community relations projects.
• Update and maintain current client information (deals, interests, media analytics).
• Assist with client concierge requests (flights, housing, reservations).
• Support marketing team research of industry trends and brands.

Our Intern program is a paid opportunity that allows participants to contribute to the organization’s success while at the same time applying learnings from the classroom. This semester we will continue with a hybrid program and will offer each participant the opportunity to gain in-office experience for approximately 3-days a week. Interns are responsible for their individual transportation and housing needs.

• All Intern are expected to work 24-29.9 hours a week during the session. While each Intern will be working with a specific division, they will have the opportunity to learn about other areas within Excel, through lunch and learns held throughout the semester.
• Our SpringProgram runs from Monday, January 11 th , 2027, through Thursday, May 6 th , 2027.

Office Hours:

• 9:00 am‐6:00 PM PT, Monday-Friday OR as agreed upon with advisor. Days in office must be coordinated with Advisor’s schedules.

Our Interns must:

• Be available to work under 30 hours per week.
• Be available to report to the West Hollywood Office approximately 3-days a week.
• Have a senior standing in college (must have completed your junior year of undergrad)

OR

• Be enrolled in a graduate school

OR

• Have a bachelor’s or postgraduate degree.

Interview Process:

• Applications will close on November 20th , 2026.
• If selected, the expectation is that offers will be extended by early December.
• The program will begin on January 11 th , 2027.

Basketball Marketing Intern Expectations:

• Assists in brainstorming potential marketing ideas for clients.
• Assists with NBA Tentpole events as assigned (i.e. NBA All Star Weekend)
• Assists in the execution of clients’ marketing and community relations projects (i.e. charity events, production shoots, camps, etc.).
• Assists in updating and maintaining current client information (i.e. past marketing deals, player interests, social media analytics, press kits, etc.).
• Assists with client concierge requests (i.e. flights, restaurant reservations, housing, etc.).
• Assists with marketing team’s research of relevant industry trends and brands.
• Collaborate with other departments within Excel to support clients’ marketing endeavors.
• Works alongside Agents and Marketing Managers in gathering materials for recruiting meetings and sales pitches.
• Will gain valuable insight on how Excel’s marketing department is structured and how it operates internally and externally.
• Will have access to the Excel team for industry advice and learnings.
• May occasionally be assigned projects outside the Marketing group to gain exposure to other divisions within Excel.

The pay range for this position is between $20.94 per hour, dependent on work location. Please note that the foregoing compensation information is a good-faith assessment associated with this position only and is provided pursuant to the California and New York City Salary Transparency Law.
