Job summary

BMW Group in Santa Monica invites an Intern, Interaction Design for Spring 2027 to join the team blending automotive and digital experiences. You will explore desktop, mobile, and emerging interaction methods, while supporting research and proposal creation for diverse client projects.

Eligible students should possess design-tool proficiency, a portfolio showcasing interaction design through flows and prototyping, and a strong aesthetics sense. Hybrid work model and weekly hours await.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program at an accredited college or university.
• US Work Authorization required.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (overall, not just major).
• Completed at least 60 college credit hours at the time of application.
• Ability to work full-time (20 - 29 hours/week).
• Must submit an unofficial college transcript with your application.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Interaction Design team and contribute as a content-creating project team member for BMW Brands, internal initiatives, and external clients.
• Work on projects spanning multiple industries, including automotive, consumer products, capital equipment, and public transportation/infrastructure.
• Participate in investigations involving traditional digital methods (desktop, app, screen) as well as new interaction methods (AR, VR, haptics, gesture, phygital).
• Support the team with contextual research for various client projects.
• Assist in creating design proposals for diverse client projects.
• Contribute to research and development of new tools and technologies within the Interaction Design team.
• Support the LA studio with internal initiatives across different departments.
