Job summary

Tampa Electric Company invites qualified interns for TECO Spring 2027 Internship in ECPM, Engineering, based in Tampa, FL. The program offers practical experience aligned with academic study and reports to Energy Delivery engineers, supporting a variety of technical projects of differing complexity and timelines.

Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited university, pursuing an engineering degree, with a minimum 3.0 GPA and a preference for Electrical, Mechanical, Civil disciplines.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in an accredited university as undergraduate or graduate in a related discipline.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
• Required Degree: Engineering.
• Preferred/Related Disciplines: Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or related.
• Year in School: Sophomore or higher preferred.
• Co-op Requirements: must be enrolled in university co-op program; if not eligible, considered an intern.

Responsibilities

• Support projects from TEC energy delivery system expansion and external entities; provide engineering, estimating, programming, and mapping input.
• Review contractor work to ensure TEC standards and provide direction as needed.
• Design facilities that are safe, economical and meet engineering practice; prepare design drawings, specs, and bills of materials.
• Coordinate projects within Electric Delivery’s Project Management process; liaise between internal teams and contractors.
• Assist in procurement; select materials, monitor delivery, and verify manufacturers’ drawings.
• Provide engineering support during field activities; collect data, assist construction, and capture feedback for improvements.
