Job summary

Ducommun, Inc. is seeking a Production Spray Painter to apply protective finishes to parts and assemblies using brush and spray methods. You will set up equipment, prepare surfaces, reference blueprints, and mix paints to specification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with set-up and operation of spray guns and painting equipment.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain spray guns and other painting equipment.
• Prepare part surfaces for coating application to ensure proper adhesion, including sandblasting and masking.
• Reference, locate, and interpret blueprints, specifications, and work orders.
• Determine the type and color of primers, paint, protective coatings, and/or solutions required from specifications or work orders.
• Mix and thin paint to proper consistency.
• Locate color break areas, decals, and insignias and paint or mount as specified.
• Apply primer and matte topcoats to interior and exterior of parts, sub‑assemblies, and assemblies.
• Work to required tolerances in the application of finished surface coats.
• Verify and evaluate thickness and location of painted surfaces for acceptance or rejection of product.
• Perform basic rework and touch‑up, feathering, shading, and blending of primer and matte topcoats using spray gun and brush.
• Maintain full understanding of rework procedures.
• Perform related tasks such as masking, sandblasting, sanding, priming, sealing, and surfacing.
• Maintain accurate labor reporting in BAAN and log entries per customer specifications and company SOPs.
• Maintain a high level of 6S involvement and support Lean initiatives through continuous improvement events.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required by the position.

Production Spray Painter

The Production Spray Painter applies protective paint finishes to parts, assemblies and sub‑assemblies made of plastic, ferrous, and non‑ferrous metals, using brush and spray‑painting techniques and equipment.

Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience with set‑up and operation of various types and sizes of spray guns, paint mixers, and other painting equipment.
• Ability to use references to obtain easily identified information and apply simple arithmetic, including decimals and fractions.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Effective professional communication with all employees of the organization.

Pay

Pay Range: $18.00–$19.50 per hour.
