Big 5 Sporting Goods is seeking an Assistant Manager Trainee for our Fresno store. This part-time role develops leadership skills while handling daily store operations and customer service in a fast-paced environment.

The program lasts 6–18 months with a defined training plan, preparing you for higher management. Candidates should be energetic, sports-minded, and have solid customer service experience or related education.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Detail-oriented and reliable; basic math skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service and assist customers throughout the store.
• Answer phone calls and respond to customer inquiries.
• Recommend products and suggest add-on sales.
• Merchandising and compliance with all company policies.
• Setting promotional signage and checking stockroom items.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked sales floor.
• Assist with store opening and closing procedures.
• Train newly hired associates and direct sales/cashier staff.
• Oversee inventory control and loss prevention enforcement.
