Job summary

Big 5 Sporting Goods Corporation in California is seeking an Assistant Manager Trainee for a part-time role designed to train toward store management. You will learn operations, customer service leadership, and merchandising while supporting day-to-day store duties.

You’ll work with a team in a fast-paced environment, develop planning and communication skills, and participate in a defined training program that leads to higher management opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 21 years of age or older.
• Strong customer service background or education.
• Able to learn and follow store policies and procedures.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service and assist customers throughout the store.
• Answer phone calls and respond to customer inquiries.
• Recommend products and suggest add-on sales.
• Merchandising and compliance with company policies.
• Set promotional signage and handle stockroom retrievals as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked sales floor.
• Assist with store opening and closing procedures.
• Train newly hired associates.
• Direct sales and cashier staff throughout the store.
• Inventory control and loss prevention enforcement.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
