Job summary

FOX44 Waco TX is seeking a passionate, creative Sports Director to lead our sports coverage across broadcast, digital, CTV and social platforms in Central Texas. This role aims to become the trusted voice of sports in the region.

The candidate will produce, report, anchor, shoot, edit, and write compelling sports content under deadline, ensuring accuracy and high production values across all platforms. A dynamic, community-focused storyteller is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of sports, sports culture and topics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong on-air presentation.
• Preference for 2+ years sports/news reporting experience (market dependent).
• Proficiency with newsroom technology, computer systems, and standard office equipment.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Team-oriented with problem-solving and communication abilities.
• Valid driver's license and good driving record.
• Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Pre-employment background screening required.
