Job summary

FOX44 Waco TX is seeking a passionate Sports Director to lead sports coverage across broadcast, digital, CTV, and social platforms. You will craft compelling stories, anchor content, and produce engaging sports content while building community ties in Central Texas.

The right candidate will have strong on-air skills, a solid sports knowledge base, and experience reporting under deadline in a fast-paced newsroom environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Strong knowledge of sports, sports culture and sports-related topics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent on-air presentation skills.
• Prefer minimum two years of sports /news reporting experience (market-dependent).
• Proficiency with newsroom technology, computer systems, and standard office equipment.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Team-oriented with excellent problem-solving and communication abilities.
• Valid driver's license and good driving record.
• Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Pre-employment background screening required.

Responsibilities

• Produce, report, write, and anchor sports content under deadline for television, digital, and social media platforms.
• Deliver accurate, engaging coverage while maintaining high standards of journalism and production quality.
• Cover breaking sports news and major sporting events.
• Shoot, edit, and manage video content for broadcasts and digital channels.
• Develop story ideas, research topics, and coordinate comprehensive sports coverage.
• Write and publish content for the station website and digital platforms.
• Engage with viewers and audiences through social media and community appearances.
• Maintain video equipment and perform other duties as assigned.
