The City of Ankeny is seeking weekend Athletic Field Crew to maintain sports complex fields and grounds. This is a part-time, seasonal role with Saturday and Sunday shifts from 6:00 am–2:30 pm or 2:00 pm–10:00 pm, at $14.00 per hour.

Starts as soon as possible and continues through late October 2026; duties include field prep, debris removal, and safety training. Applicants must be at least 16 and have a valid Iowa driver’s license; experience is not required but reliability is essential.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Must be insurable.
• Must keep regular and reliable attendance at work.

Function

The City of Ankeny has a need for individuals who are interested in helping maintain the sports complex fields and grounds on the weekends.

Days/Hours: Saturdays & Sundays; 6:00 am - 2:30 pm or 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm.

$14.00/hour - Athletic Field Crew - Weekends

• Maintains all field preparations including marking, dragging, raking, chalking, painting, and moving of goals.

• Assists in division building maintenance to keep buildings and grounds clean and neat appearing.

Entry Requirements And Skills

• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
• Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods under adverse weather conditions
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public
• Must be 16 years of age
• Maintain a valid Iowa driver’s license

Work Environment

• Works in field environment.
• Requires weekends, holidays and evening hours.
• Performs outside work in all kinds of weather conditions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be insurable.
• Must be sighted.
• Must be able to hear normal conversation.
• Must be able to speak clearly at normal rate of conversation.
• Must be able to kneel, squat, stoop, walk and climb stairs.
• Must be able to lift heavy objects weighing up to 75 pounds and carries for short distances.
• Must keep regular and reliable attendance at work.

This position is not eligible for health benefits but may be eligible for IPERS. IPERS eligibility and participation will begin once an employee earns $1,000 or more in two consecutive quarters and will continue for the duration of employment.
