Job summary

Scheels in Springfield, IL is seeking an Equipment Technician to diagnose, maintain, and assemble a range of store equipment from bicycles to paintball gear.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records for store and customer equipment.
  • Assist with delivering and loading equipment and merchandise at the store and to customer residences.
  • Read and interpret safety, operation and maintenance manuals.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately diagnose and provide maintenance and assembly of customer and store equipment. Equipment may involve bicycles, exercise machines, snowboards, skis, hockey skates and sticks, baseball gloves and bats, golf clubs, racquet sports, archery bows and arrows, paintball markers and other merchandise in a Scheels Store
  • Order and follow up with vendors for repair parts
  • Safely fill CO2 and compressed air tanks for paintball markers
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records for store and customer equipment
  • Assist with delivering and loading customer equipment and merchandise at the store and to customer residences
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals
  • Schedule may include varied hours, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Education & Experience:

The ideal candidate must possess a clean, valid driver’s license and be willing to obtain DOT certification and meet Scheels driving standards. Mechanical knowledge is preferred.

Physical Requirements/Lifting Requirements:

Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation.

Very heavy work - Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for heavy work.

Compensation/Schedule:

Compensation for this position starts at $18.00 to $21.00 per hour. Must be flexible to work assigned schedule between 5p.m. and 9p.m. Monday through Friday (day time hours may be available) and 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday, 10a.m. and 6p.m., Sunday. Schedule may include varied hours, evenings, weekends and holidays. Average hours per week is 20 hours.
