Job summary

Alan-Baird-Industries is seeking a Spooling Inspector to inspect and test wire and cable for defects and conformity to specifications. The role involves reading specifications, selecting inspection procedures, and measuring sizes with micrometers and gauges.

You will record results, re-spool cables per customer specs, and perform final inspections. The position requires 6 months to 1 year of experience, attention to detail, and English literacy. Training and growth opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Six months to one year of work experience is preferred.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Must have good documentation practice.
• A proven understanding of part workmanship.
• Must be capable and willing to share knowledge and train associates.
• Ability to analyze data and make recommendations.
• Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing defects. Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to seek and accept feedback from others.
• Ability to speak, read, and write in English.

The Spooling Inspector is in charge of checking all cable used in production to determine defects that may affect quality of the final product.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Working conditions

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, ambient air, fumes or airborne particles
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical requirements

• The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
• Candidate must be able to perform the physical responsibilities of the job utilizing arms, hands, and fingers to perform complex functions of manufacturing parts and performing other duties of the job; e.g., standing, sitting, walking throughout the facility and stairs, bending, squatting, and kneeling, etc.
• Ability to lift items weighing 10-15 lbs.

Pay: $17.00 - $17.00/ hour
